Abdo the charioteer's life becomes beset by a series of hurdles as he grapples with oppression and a fierce quest for love in old Damascus.

Sharif sends some of his men to steal the safe of his brother Abu Nouri after his death, but Abdo confronts him and prevents them from stealing. The people of the neighborhood start circulating chatter about the disappearance of Abdo's wife.
Doria confronts Sharif with the presence of senior members of the neighborhood and demands that he relinquish the mantle of leadership of the neighborhood. Shoman kidnaps Abdo's daughter under Sharif's orders and tries to rape her.
Sharif provokes Abdo after he manages to convince him that his daughter Zahra committed adultery with Shoman. So Abdo is forced to marry Zahra to Shoman in order to cover up her scandal.
Bodour meets Doria and tells her about what happened with Zahra and Shoman. Sharif threatens Abdo if he is attacked again.
Zahra acquiesces to Nouriya's requests to clean the house in return for giving her some food. Bodour asks Nouri to marry him.
The police arrested Abdo after Abu Salim filed a complaint against him. Nuri asks Doria to help him to marry Bodour.
Al-Mukhtar tries to convince Bodour to make Lutfia sell the house in exchange for a financial share. Shoman abuses Zahra after his wife, Nouriya, manipulates him. Sharif refuses to concede the mantle of leadership to Hassan.
Sharif asks Abdo to work for Doria in order to pass on the information to him. It turns out that Bodour is helping Subhiya, not out of love for her, but out of greed for her home when she dies.
Bodour decides to remove Zumurud from the house without Doria's knowledge, despite her illness. Sharif threatens Doria to make Zumurud married against her will.
Balqis goes to visit Abdo at his home, thanks him, and tells him that she feels safe in his presence. Bodour and Doria hatch a plan to annul Zumurud's marriage to Hamza.
Doria succeeds in executing her plan by smuggling Zumurud out of the house. The atmosphere improves between Nouriya and Zahra after their bad start.
Sharif decides to hold a wedding in the neighborhood, even though there is Zumurud's funeral on the same day. Bodour meets Abdo and they exchange accusations and threats against each other.
Doria goes to Sharif and demands that he close the wheat store and stop imports and exports. Bodour begins to spread the issue of her marriage to Nouri among the people of the neighborhood.
Hamza and his men attack Hassan, but Abdo intervenes and is able to stop them. Doria decides to marry Abdo's daughter, Hosnia, to Mahmoud, despite Hosnia's love for Hassan.
In a scene from the past, we learn how Hassiba lost her sight as she disobeyed Doria's orders. Hosnia goes to visit her sister Zahra, but Shoman prevents her and assaults her. Doria tells Abdo that his daughter, Zahra, did not commit adultery with Shoman.
Abdo goes to confront Bodour after knowing that she lied about his daughter, Zahra. He gets himself imprisoned after defaming Bodour in the neighborhood.
Doria meets with Shoman and threatens him if he tries to approach Zahra or decides to treat her badly. Abdo fights with a prisoner and cuts off his ear.
Nouri's wife gives birth to the child, but dies during childbirth. Abdo meets his friend Shaheen in prison after a long absence.
The verdict is issued against Abdo, amidst the astonishment of the people of the neighborhood. Hassan intervenes to save Abdo from the decision issued against him.
Hassan succeeds in extricating Abdo from the gallows by giving away valuable possessions. Nouri asks Doria to marry him to Bodour after his wife's death.
Zahra tries to defend herself from Shoman, but things don't go as planned. Sharif and Hamza suspect that there is a spy among them who is transfer the news.
After long differences between Sherif and Abdo, they decide to start a new page between them. Nouri plots with Al-Haraisi in order to buy wheat in order to sell it again at a higher price.
Doria suspects that there is a relationship between her son Hassan and the daughter of Abdo Hosnia. Sharif succeeds in executing his plan and framing Abdo for theft, but the latter has a plan to turn the tables on him.
Doria finally agrees to marry Bodour to her son, Nouri. Mahmoud sees that Zumurud is alive and gets surprised.
Abdo marries Balqis so that they can evade Sharif, and Abdo threatens anyone who approaches his wife's house. Hosnia tells Bodour that we may be pregnant with a child.
Abdo and his gang kidnap the stock of wheat in an attempt to make it disappear from the market. Nouri suddenly changes his mind about marrying Bodour.
Abdo goes to Doria's house and threatens to burn her if she does not confess the whereabouts of his daughter, Hosnia. Abdo goes to Bodour and threatens her if she does not reveal his daughter's whereabouts.
Hassan informs Abdo that his daughter Hosnia is pregnant from him and asks him to kill him. Bodour informs Abdo that Zumurud is alive and tells him all the details.
Abdo goes to Sharif and threatens to kill him if he decides to approach his wife's house, Balqis. Hamza goes and tries to propose to Balqis' daughter, but his father prevents him.
Sharif marries Balqis' daughter, despite their grief. Abdo asks Bodour to go to Sharif's house and search for his ex-wife's ring. Hamza attacks Balqis' house after knowing of his father's marriage to Balqis' daughter.
