Season overview

A document of honor, an original production that you will watch starting from January 16, exclusively on Weyak. It tells the story of four young men who pledged in a document of honor to stay together, but life separated them in its paths to return and unite them in confrontation.

Barakat is asking for weapons to exchange with specific papers and the only copy of the novel Viktoria, we see him later died, Abu Arab can’t stop crying, Barakat’s old friends come to his funeral. Past, Barakat, Gaith, Nabil, and Afiff meeting each other in the street, they go to Nabil’s room, Barakat handprints a clarification of friendship they signed a long time ago by his blood.
Barakat is making money by buying bread and has a group of poor young people working illegally with him, he is telling them to sell more, while Abu Arab is closing the oven’s windows in citizens’ faces. Noraan meets Afiff, they talk about his wife for she is sterile, she obviously has feelings for him. Present, some VIPs in their offices are mysteriously talking about Victoria the novel, and making sure they got the only version exist. Past, Abu Gaith is accused of embezzlement, he has a heart attack. An old man, the owner of the printing press that Nabil is working in, goes to meet a beautiful blonde lady called Victoria, he confesses his love to her.
Victoria is taking her clothes off in front of Mamdouh, the main narrator of the story while Barakat is looking for Yasmine. Noran and Aum Bahjat are talking about Afiff, Yasmine leaves home so Barakat goes after her lover, Basim. Victoria is telling her tragic story to Mamdouh, shows him her burned body and damaged soul. Victoria, the novel is based on Victoria’s real story which written to protect all women, Nabil is reading it secretly. Gaith figures out that general Raif is after his father death.
Yamine and Basim are living together in Lattakia while Safiaa is dancing for religious Afiff. Barakat is planning to catch general Raif and his men, Abu Arab brings a group of men to help Barakat. Suddenly, the armed police surround Barakat and Gaith, they arrest Gaith for Raif asked them to do so. Hanin goes to Abu Gaith funeral, she tells Aum Gaith that she is not able to reach Gaith’s cellphone. Mysterious armed guys trapped Mamdouh by a fake test message, they put a gun in his head, asking for the novel.
The guys are trying to take information from Mamdouh, he tells them nothing, they kill them after he smoked his last pipe, Nabil is hidden upstairs watching them. Barakat is resisting the police men in prison. Raif is investigating Gaith and black mailing him, promising him an office in the police deparment with him, and using his authority to make him an important man, so Gaith agrees and leaves the prison with Barakat while Nabil is making a copy of the novel on his personal computer, he got a threatening message about the novel.
Nabil destroys his SIM card and continues his digital copy, Gaith is spending time with Hanin while her mother is asking Barakat to work in the casino. One of the rich customer in the casino that Hiam is working in comes with a full of speakers car, and start singing to her in front of her house. Conflicts between Barakat and Gaith for Gaith accepted Raif’s offer. Barakat changes his mind and agrees to work with Hiam after he knew that she is Hanin’s mother.
Afiff is asking for Gaith’s advice for he has feelings for Noran while Nabil is telling Barakat all the story of the novel and Mamdouh. Barakat takes Nabil to the oven he is in charge of to hide the novel in closet that is full of weapons. Victoria shows in present, she sent a group of men to kidnap Nabil and get him over to her unknown old place, she tells him her hysterical tragic story, and he promises her to write it all and publish it.
The first contact between Barakat and the gang that want the novel, they told Barakat to bring the novel and Nabil to a specific location while Afiff is preparing himself for his second wedding with Noran. The big cheese in the gang tried to kidnap Barakat and Nabil, but surprised by Barakat’s armed men waiting for his sign in front of the location. Safia comes to her husband wedding for she has a word to him, Hanin breaks up with Gaith, Hiam goes crazy on Barakat and Hanin for they decided to marry each other.
Nabil meets Victoria, he tells her that he met Alkhawaja and handed the novel to him, she expresses her desire to take revenge of him and that she wanted him dead, while Barakat is meeting Hanin with Gaith being there. Victoria shares Nabil some of her critical past. Gaith is reconsidering the printed with blood clarification after he lost Hanin to Barakat, Nabil is doing so after Barakar’s try to tell Alkhawaja the location of Victoria. The four close friends start dissociating.
Meeting between Alkhawaja and Barakat, planning to get Victoria and the papers, Barakat promises him to get her to him. Barakat surprises Yasmine in her house, gives her an envelope, and tells her to publish what inside it if something bad happened to him. General Raif is telling Gaith that Barakat is working with a very dangerous guy, Alkhawaja, and convincing him to go after him for he is the link to arrest him. Nabil is putting the last lines with Victoria, Gaith is confronting Barakat with the police forces. Later, Raif and Gaith are shaking hands, Yasmine is crying, telling her husband she will publish the novel, the scene of the funeral appears again, Barakat is a live, we don’t know who is buried under the grave.

Shashah Review

A bold intense Syrian miniseries drama, originally produced by Weyyak, and casting the most valuable among the Syrian actors such as Salloum Haddad, Mehiar Khaddor, Amal Arafa, and Ayman Rida.

It tells the story of four close friends promised each other to be together forever, but life separated them to meet each other again with big conflicts. The story presented multidimensionally, the director used intertextuality to support the main story, and it is a good idea in spite of some unstable differences in the stories’ content. There are many techniques that handled very well, such as time shifting, the early presented story’s beak, narrative voiceover. There is also good scenery, camera rolling from unfamiliar angles while the most remarkable shots were token from above. For performance, it was very good from all the actors, complex characterizations for characters, great choose of actors, bold dialogues, and smart scenarios. In addition to the clever technical aspect of the work, it reflects many issues from the Syrian reality, and spot the light on many humanitarian, social, religious issues that forming the after-war society.

Intense, complicated and bold on many good levels, could be better, but has the ingredients to be one of the best in Ramadan 2022, but not suitable for children or family viewing.
