Season overview
Events start with the visit of the president Anwar Al-Sadat to the Island citizens, overwhelmed to hear the Island story from one of the Island figure. The story stared at the past, El-Sheikh Median passed away while one of the fishermen has found a young girl corpse in the sea, Maliha said it is her daughter Synods. Ajami promises her to find the murderer.
Khaldon and Al-Aiqa are looking for a place on the island, they ask Ajami to enter the island, and explain why it is so important to be on the island while Maliha is asking god to be with her after her daughter death. Al-Aiqa discovers her desire to live on the island, Arafat is looking for a shelter.
El-Sheikh Moharb tried to get control over the island’s people during his father, El-Sheikh (Median), funeral, El- sheikh Yousri tries to talk with his brother Arafat to convince him to leave the house for him and his wife. Al-Aiqa meets El-Sheikh (Median) in her dream.
Al-Ajami decides to give Arafat the room beside the sea that he left it because of it is salty and inappropriate for farming, Arafat tells him that he saw El-shiekh Median in a dream, telling him to farm the land, and that “the storm is coming”. Khaldon is trying to involve the citizens of the island into gambling, he also uses underworld magic to know what inside their brains.
Al-Aiqa tries to influence more people in the island, she depends on her beauty to attract men to achieve her plans. Moharib takes advantage of the young people on the island to guarantee more control it, he orders them to open the mosque’s donation box to find a lot of money in it, so they decide to buy weapons to fight Al-Ajami.
Al-Ajami asks Arafat about his love to Synods, Arafat tells him that he was in love with her, but he decided not to involve her in a relationship with a guy like himself. Al-Ajmi asks Arafat to run away from the island but he decided to stay, because he simply did not kill her. Khaldoon brings Al-Aiqa to Batlan to tell him about what is going to happen with his next days, she asks him to bring a little baby, to do magic, the little boy said “Arafat” without being told what the question is. Durra and his father know that son of Batlan is the murderer.
Al-Ajami faces Moharib to tell him to break away with his daughter, or conflicts are between them, Moharib is preparing for the war with him, waiting his men to be tough and ready to face the fact.
Abn Batlan tells Al-Ajami that he and his father have wanted to marry Syndos, she refused, but he did not kill her anyway. The teacher punished Samir, son of Moharib, cause that he refused to be called by a different name, as Arafat taught him.
Upcoming confrontation between Gypsies and Shiekh Moharib, while Albatlan is urging Al-Ajami about how important to control Moharib and his men. Al Aiqa tries to seduce Albatlan to expand in the place and spread debauchery.
Arafat comes by a group of fishermen, complaining of poverty, he asks them to believe in god while fishing. Al-Ajami has a sermon with the island’s citizens, revealing the fact that his store is stolen, forgiving who stole it, and asking people to come tomorrow to his house to give them wheat.
Al-Ajami offers Arafat to marry his daughter.
Khaldon hides the fact that he divorced Al Aiqa from Yousri , and he asks him to meet her and know more about her. Albatlan convinces Al-Ajami to keep on the Gypsies to support him while fighting against Moharib. Maliha asks Al-Ajami to keep looking for the murderer, at the time Arafat refused to marry Durra.
Al-Ajami gives orders to look for the murderer, and decides to give half of senior island food and drinks to the poor people because of that they suffer lack of resources. Durra got sick because of her love to Arafat, Khaldon broke up with AlAiqa, Al-Ajami and Hilala are married.
Al Aiqa causes Arafat a scandal between the people on the Island, she causes many problems to the Island’s people and their women. Albatlan and Khaldon have a conversation to get Al-Ajami into troubles because he prisoned his son, and accused him by killing Syndos.
Al-Ajami and Al-Sheikh Arafat becomes a close friend after Arafat has advised him to not burden his happiness. Arafat asks Maliha to tell him about Synods, so she opens his eyes for a part of the puzzle and ensures that one of the big men in the island has wanted to marry her before one day of her murder, and the people found her killed the other day. Al Aiqa is still studying to get close from Arafat, but Khaldon is asking her to return to dance.
Batlan is blaming Al-Ajami for he did not allow him to enter while Mr. Hafez was here, at the same time, Maliha, Syndos’s grandmother, asking the guy from the other night to tell her the name of Syndos killer, but he ran away saying nothing. Maliha goes to Al-Ajami to tell him about the guy, Hamdai, Al-Ajami brings him to make sure of what being said, but Hamdi denies everything. Khaldon asks Al Aiqa to deceive Arafat until he fall in love with her, and by that, Arafat will stay, and khaldon will be the king on the island.
Al-Ajami finds the murderer using a smart trick from Arafat, he bings Hilala and Batlan to tell them that their sons are accused by Syndos murder, Batlan refuses the fact and goes to Khaldon, asking him to be prepared to take his side. Al-Ajami goes to Batlan to take his son from him , but he refuses, threatening Al-Ajami by his men.
Maliha is dead after Arafat convinced her to forgive Hamdi for killing Syndos, and khaldon has announced that he is converted to the right path because of Sheikh Moharib, and then he gives orders for gypsies to stop singing and dancing.
Al-Ajami has a new wife after he divorced the first one while Al Aiqa is still trying to interrupt the frequency of life on the island and targeting teenagers with magic. Khaldon is still inciting Al-Aiqa to know Arafat’s secrets, specially the secret behind the book his father has given to him.
Arafat is distributing money to poor people and collecting from rich to be saved for the school, while Sheikh Yosri asked him for a jurisprudence debate in front of the island native people, for Arafat will be removed from the chiefdom if he loses. Batlan goes to Khaldon telling him he will would be under his wing if he will agree with his idea to split the island into two parts. Many children around Arafat, cheering him up before the debate, he asks them about the meaning of honesty.
Moharib is telling his wife that he doesn’t like to go to the debate, but all in all, he is going to go unless he is defeated. The debate ends, Al-Ajami announces that it is a conspiracy on the island from Batlan, Khaldon, and Sheikh Yosri, and he orders his men to be around their houses.
Khaldon is angry for Al Aiqa has gone to see Arafat, she asks him about his secret the he is hiding, he answers unclearly. Khaldon has built a fence, dividing the island into two, he says that Albatlan is the leader of the sea part of the island. Al-Ajami has gone crazy after he found out what Khaldon did, he goes to him and Albatlan, telling them to retreat their deeds or they will regret about it all.
Khaldon asks Al Aiqa to keep trapping Arafat and to know more about his secrets, while the citizens are asking Al-Ajami to do something after the island division, so he tells them to be patient until the end of the timeout he selected for Albatlan.
Khaldon ensures Al Aiqa that the end of Arafat is close for that he would be killed, and that there is a plan to get rid of him, he asks Dugham to kill Arafat who successfully crossed the boundaries between the two parts of the island with the island children. Al Aiqa is trying to protect Arafat from Durgham, she has a gun shot.
Moharb, who rest assured of his son during the gun shot accident, is sitting with his family for dinner, his wife asks him about the holy deeds Arafat did, so he tells her more strange stories about Arafat deeds at the time Alshiekh Median was alive, which familiar with many stories that the citizens of the island are telling each other.
The lord of the mountain wants to take advantage of Arafat after his men saw him crossing the fence. Arafat is missing, Khaldon goes to meet Yousri and Al Aiqa to use them with his plan.
Arafat has another miracle, he disappears from the cave.
Khaldon is taking advantage of Arafat being missed, he goes to her house and gets a book while Arafat is lost between the mountains. Arafat finds a guy, he asks his help to return to the island, but he hits him on the head and takes Khaldon’s cloak. Khaldon takes control over the island and sits in the middle of it.
Arafat is still missing, lost between the mountains after he has run away from the lord of the mountains while Khaldon is telling lies about Arafat through the citizens to take control over the whole island. Khaldon is reading the book he stole from Arafat’s house, which contains all the secrets of the island.
The lord of the mountains is feeling regret about what he did in life, he asks his people to ask mercy from god, after what he saw in his dream. Khaldon is still reading the book, Arafat is still missing.
The men of the lord of the mountains handcuff him to tell them where the gold is, Arafat comes, sees them, telling them to let him free, but they refused, he holds a gun and shoots, they let him free and he told them where the gold is. The lord of the mountains is crying, he asks Arafat to go together to the island.
Al-Ajami refuses Khaldon’s request to marry Durra many times, so he practices magic against him to take Durra, but Arafat arrives, forbidding him to do so in the last moment. Khaldon feels that his plan is falling apart, he has a big conflict with Arafat, but a big surprise appears to Khaldon after he opened Arafat’s book.
Khaldon is surprised by that Arafat is going to marry Durra, Arafat refuses Khaldon to be there, and asks Al-Ajami to wait for the lord of the mountains to be there for his marriage contract. Al-Ajami asks Khadon to leave the island, then the people of the island see Khaldon and aggressively stab him by knifes to death. After many years, Arafat in his bed, dying, distributing his will between three close friends. Arafat died, Khaldon, Al Aiqa, and gypsies appear again for history to repeat itself.

A modern Egyptian drama series directed by Hussien Almanbawi and casting Mai Izz Eldien, Tarek Loutfi, and Fathi Abdalwahhab.
One hundred years ago on a forgotten island, antagonists came to the island for they think it has a secret treasures, they are acting to get control over the island to achieve their plan.
Frankly, it is a clever move to make a series with such core idea, to present it specially to the Arab world , for this work idea seems unbelievable and illogical because of the miracles and magic stuff included, has connotations of political figures such as the link to pre-president Anwar Alsadatt, and religious connotations and intertextuality of the story of Noah and the flood from the holy books.
technically speaking, it is smartly complicated and rich of great thick elements on the level of the direction techniques, shooting skills, choose of coloring and location, manipulation of chronological order, time shifting, twists, very well written script and dialogues, and the phenomenal performance from most of the actors. On the contrary, the story of such work, its references and sources are maybe could be seen unnecessary or not interesting for audiences in our present time, or maybe it is not, for that depends on the viewer mentality, believes, or his purpose of viewing.
Different, historical, and has traditional references, could be better, but has the ingredients to be one of the best works in Ramadan 2022.
