Overview

Season overview

Within a social dramatic framework, the series revolves about an Egyptian dancer who comes to dance at a wedding in Kuwait, but circumstances force her to stay at the conservative mother of the groom house because she is unable to return to Egypt, and the events continue amid by the dancer's desire to control the house.

Qutaiba tells his ex-wife Fai that he will marry in two days, whom she suffers a car accident while she is accompanied by his brother whom she married after their divorce. Then Abla is surprised that her son secretly remarried without the knowledge of his first wife.
Abla discovers that her son's ,Qutaiba, ex-wife is married to her second son, and Nizar tells his wife Salasabil the news of the birth of his second wife, who she did not know about until that moment. Then a friend of Maan discovers something that makes him do the unexpected.
Abla knows the secrets of everyone in the house from the maid. Ryan tells Nouf that his children are actually Maan's children, and everyone accidentally eats psychedelic candy.
Maan's mistress calls him and threatens him that she will do the unthinkable after he abandoned her. The dancer Kareema gets to know the family and remembers her painful childhood memories. Then it is time for Qutaiba's wedding, amid by many problems that may stop the wedding.
Abla accuses Karima of stealing her jewelry, but she denies it happened. Ghazwa quarrels with Nizar, and Shaheen comes to Fai's room.
Karima feels unwell after swallowing Abla's jewellery. Abla knows that Tamara remained under the bed of her mother and husband Shahin without their knowledge. Nouf feels remorse for Maan's mistress' children and seeks to find them.
It turns out that Abla is seriously ill. Nouf manages to find Maan's children and Abla decides to do a DNA analysis to confirm their identity. Fai gets out of control after her daughter Tamara refuses to talk to her.
Abla and Karima agree on an agreement that saves the life of Abla and Karima's daughter. Fay's children are involved in a car accident. A woman comes to Nizar after her husband beats her. Then the husband comes with his clan to convince Nizar not to help her. .
It turns out that Fai has a brain disease, so Abla tries to convince her to have the surgery. Nouf decides to raise the children despite the results of the DNA analysis, and Anas proposes a plan to keep the patients coming, and Abla punishes him in her own way.
All of Abla's grandchildren are infected with lice, so she has to take care of them, and devises a plan to take advantage of the situation and teach Ghazwa a lesson. Then she tells her children about her illness and her agreement with Karima to donate her liver.
An episode about the great grandmother and mother Abla, which ends with Karima sitting at the dining table, then she vents her anger.
Fatima becomes suspicious of Qutaiba's feelings for Fai, which angers his daughter. And Lubna follows Zuhair and watches him with Jaber, which raises her curiosity to know what is between them, then Salasabil asks for advice from Karima.
Abla gathers her family for dinner. Lubna suspects her husband's tendencies, Rasha finds a picture of her husband's old girlfriend. Fai reconsiders her choices, and Karima teaches Nizar a lesson after he speaks bad about her.
Nizar records a thought entitled "Be gentle with the woman" in light of his neglect of his two wives and insulting the maid, so his mother Abla comes and scolds him, and the child that Maan raises, suffers an allergic attack and takes him to his father's house.
Salsabil sympathizes with Ghazwa, and Rasha tries to get closer to her husband. Faleh blackmails Lubna, who is suspicious of her husband's tendencies, and she quarrels with him.
The real reason Karima came to Abla's house becomes clear. Jaber continues to raise the suspicion of Anas' wife. Nezar is determined to travel to Bosnia despite not finding his passport.
The police arrest Salsabil and Ghazwa when they are trying to catch Nizar, who Abla discovers that he has married a third time. Fai has an epileptic fit.
The past is chasing Abla. Lubna grows suspicious of her husband's tendencies. Rasha discovers that her husband Anas still loves Rawya.
Fai wakes up from the operation with partial amnesia. A foreign woman asks about Nizar and claims that she is his daughter. Jaber and Faleh blackmail Zuhair.
Karima begins implementing her plan to destroy Abla. Nouf goes to Mohsen's house. Salsabil sympathizes with Nizar's foreign daughter.
The maid is under Karima's control after she got her son out of prison. Qutaiba and Shaheen have a violent fight. Karima teams up with the nurse Nahed to set up Abla. Lubna and Zuhair open up about Jaber.
Karima tries to mess with Abla's mind in all possible ways. Zuhair loses control after Lubna tries to reconcile with him. Nouf tries to make Maan jealous.
Abla questions her mental health. Then she helps Rasha to end her fake relationship with Anas, and decides to help Zuhair in the blackmail that he is being subjected to. Mohsen kidnaps Nouf to take revenge on Maan.
Nizar tries to invite his foreign daughter for Islamic guidance. The police arrest Zuhair. Fai goes through another seizure.
Zuhair is released from prison on bail, then Lubna tells him that she is the reason for what is happening to him. Stella is persuaded to wear a headscarf. Nouf asks Maan to save the children from Mohsen.
Karima agrees with Nahid to mess up between Abla and her children. Maan saves Mohsen. Fai knows the whole truth. Anas decides to take over the management of the hospital instead of his mother.
Abla repels Karima's attempt to set her up with her children. Lubna confesses to the police what she did. Anas and Nizar hatch a plan to implicate their mother, Abla. Fai asks Shaheen to help her get back to Qutaiba.
The brothers agree to force stay their mother Abla in the house. Abla discovers the truth about the medicines she is taking and confronts her children, then Krema intervenes and throws the bomb that turns everything upside down.

Shashah Review

One of the best and most controversial series of Ramadan 2022.

A series with a Kuwaiti cast, with Syrian-Egyptian participation, that presents a new story and issues that Gulf drama did not encounter before.

In each episode, a new painting is drawn by the creative Kuwaiti writer Heba Mashari and colored by the wonderful Syrian director Al-Muthanna Sobh.

It is not strange for our author to address bold social issues and put forward ideas that fill your mind and amaze you with their boldness, supported by untypical dialogues, but more like poetry that delights your ears, and the director adds to them the magic of storytelling  and  amazing sound effects that takes you to another world. Also, the director's use of the fourth wall-breaking technique was one of the masterpieces of this series, which gives it an extra special charm.

Add to all this the strength of the acting staff and the characters features, as each character has its own characteristics and distinct story, and the casting is perfect.

And of course, we should not forget the screen big star Hoda Hussein, who performed some scenes that will be preserved in the history of the drama.

Even if you are not a fan of Gulf drama, and whether you disagree or agree with the ideas presented, it is a series that you should not miss.
